This is the first Kevin Brooks book I've read but now I definitely want to read more of his work, as I enjoyed The Bunker Diary so much! </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I thought I would enjoy this book because of how much I LOVED <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/room-by-emma-donoghue-review.html" target="_blank">Room by Emma Donoghue</a>, and this book is a similar concept, although when you read more you realise it is different in a lot of ways too. So, if you enjoyed Room, you'd probably like The Bunker Diary, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The story starts straight away as a diary written by someone who has somehow been kidnapped and locked away. Personally, I love books set out as diaries, so this made it even better. Throughout the book, you get to read what is happening and Linus's thoughts. Linus is the main character who is writing the diary himself, and as a character he is great- funny, honest, interesting, smart. Kevin Brooks writes in a way that makes it believable that this is a real person's diary who has really been locked away and has no idea what has happened and what will. The other characters were all amazing too, because the way they were portrayed always seemed believable and true.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This book also makes you want to know what the hell is happening because it's not just a kidnap, but a really elaborate set up and it seems crazy and creepy and you just want to know why and how and who and what and when and ahhhhh so many questions!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm not going to give anything away, but if you've read this book, you'll know what I mean when i say THE ENDING THO??!!!?!??! Thanks, Kevin Brooks, thanks a lot. Strangely though, I liked the ending. I thought it was really realistic and not sugar coated, which sometime YA books can be.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I would recommend this book to older readers, maybe from 13-14 onwards, as there are some really sad and upsetting parts, and the Bunker Diary is perfect for people who like stories that are a bit different.</div>

I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to interview Claudia, whose new contemporary romance came out in February this year. I haven't had the chance to read the book yet, but from what I've heard it sounds great.</div>

<span style="color: #222222; font-size: 13px;"><i>Getting By (A Knight's Tale) by Claudia Y. Burgoa is a new-adult contemporary romance novel.</i></span></div>
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
<i><br style="color: #222222; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="color: #222222; font-size: 13px;">When Emma Anderson arrived at San Francisco International Airport, she regretted accepting the distinction of being the maid of honor to Gaby's--her childhood friend--wedding. It had been years since the last time she set foot in Menlo Park, where her parents had been killed. The rug where she had been shoving her feelings since that day looked bumpier than a camel's hump. Who could blame her; if she hadn't been selfish they'd still be around. Ever since that fateful day, Emma has been perfecting the knack of Getting By.</span><br style="color: #222222; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="color: #222222; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="color: #222222; font-size: 13px;">Cade's wedding in Menlo Park--a city close to San Francisco--might be the perfect place for Jake Knight to shake the memories of his ex, Emma Anderson for good. Single, available women galore for an entire week was the perfect medication, one he intended to take three times a day for an entire week to return to his player days. It was a plan the former spy thought flawless until he came face to face with the maid of honor. Jake's perfect retreat turns into a flight, fight or hide week of celebrations.</span></i></div>

<u>Interview</u></div>
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
What got you into writing?</div>
</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
My love for books, the need to write the stories that I make up in my mind.</div>
<div class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
What makes you want to write contemporary (specifically romance) books?</div>
</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
I like for everyone to find their soulmate, that person that completes them.</div>
<div class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
Does anything in your story relate to your real life?</div>
</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
The Knight family are in some ways a reflection of my favorite aunt and uncle; and their three single—and available—sons.</div>
<div class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
What can readers expect from the story?</div>
</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
Family ties, a trio of hot brother and two conflicted soulmates that need come to terms about their past and how to tackle their future.</div>
<div class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-size: 12px;">
What sort of books do you personally enjoy to read?</div>
</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
Like music, I’ve eclectic taste. I enjoy about every genre—except horror, I’ve read only a few of those in my life time.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
Thank you for the interview Claudia!</div>

That's because I've got 4 gcse exams next week and 2 a few weeks later, so haven't had any time to post. I'm going to revision every night after school and some days to art catch up and at the moment I don't feel like I have any time to post.<br />
<br />
I love having a blog so much and I don't want to fill it with things that aren't very good because I've rushed it, which is what I would be doing if I was to put anything up in the next few weeks, so I've decided to tell you all about this and let you know that I won't be posting for probably the next month.<br />
<br />
I'll hate not being on here but I guess school comes first :(<br />
<br />
I don't want blogging to become something I'm only doing when I have to and not because I want to, so I think this is the best thing I can do at the minute.<br />
<br />
<br />
But... I'm going to try and organise something great for when I'm back on here! Let me know if anyone would be interested in helping me with something, or any authors who would too. Thanks to all the bloggers who have always helped me :)<br />

But... then I spoke to a friend and was explaining what it's about and I remembered just how much I loved it and realised that I wanted to share my thoughts about it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://covers.booktopia.com.au/big/9780732289003/paper-towns.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://covers.booktopia.com.au/big/9780732289003/paper-towns.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
So, here you are!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><i>Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life—dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><i>After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues—and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees of the girl he thought he knew.</i></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>-From <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6442769-paper-towns?from_search=true" target="_blank">Goodreads</a></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is probably joint second (with <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/will-grayson-will-grayson-byjohn-green.html" target="_blank">Will Grayson, Will Grayson</a>) of my favourite John Green books, which is saying something because I've loved every book I've read by him. I think that I enjoyed Paper Towns so much because it has a sense of adventure to it. At the start of the book, Q is just a seemingly normal teenager who is about to graduate, but towards the end he has changed so much. He becomes braver and knows now what matters to him more than other things. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I loved Q because he was selfless and did a lot for Margo, when he could have just as easily left her. He was so fun to read about and from his point of view everything was really interesting. My favourite part was towards the end. It made me want to be spontaneous and go on a road trip with good friends, and the way John Green wrote it made it so funny at times. I felt like the road trip showed so many sides to all of the characters involved, which was really great to read because the characters became even more life-like.<br />
<br />
When I read this book it made me feel really thoughtful and towards the end it was quite happy. I liked that the book made me think about things, and Margo in particular said a lot of things that I agreed with. I just really love it when I find a quote from a book which really makes me think about things, and this quote was definitely one of my favourites:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=26944743" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think there is so much meaning to it and I really wanted to share it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As of yet, I haven't read a John Green book which I haven't enjoyed, and this book is not an exception. I will give this 5/5 stars because I really, really loved it and I think any YA contemporary fans should give this book a try.</div>

Wow! This book was amazing! I finished this book in one day, which is evidence enough of how much I enjoyed it. The plot was unlike anything I've ever read before. I think that the way that we don't know what happened to Danny is a massive incentive to carry on reading. Not only that though- there is a subplot of what's happened between Hannah's dad and Danny's parents, which I also spent a lot of time wanting to know more about.<br />
<br />
The writing of this book was brilliant. It didn't give things away before they were supposed to be, as some books I've read have done. I think this is really important otherwise a story can become boring if you know what's going to happen next. I thought that the characters had a lot of personality and I really liked Hannah, who the story was from the perspective of. Also, I loved Danny's mum because I think that she was really strong and I think that she was a lot like any mum, so this made the story even more sad to read because she was relatable.<br />
<br />
As for the plot twist, I thought it was brilliant! In a way there were two plot twists which is even better! Sometimes a twist can be a bit far fetched or annoying, but this one was so good! I really think that it made the book even more better and exciting.<br />
<br />
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA- this book is actually a UKYA novel (!)- with a riveting plot and an almost thriller type of genre. I would really love to read more of these types of books, so let me know if there's anything out there- I haven't really read anything like this before! I have to give this book 5/5 hearts because I enjoyed it so, so much.<br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><i>Fourteen-year-old April May Manning spent her life on airplanes with her flight attendant parents. When her father dies in a crash, April's mom marries a pilot who turns out to be an abusive jerk, and gets Mom confined to a psychiatric hospital. So April takes off, literally, living on airplanes, using her mother's flight benefits, relying on the flight crews who know she's been shuttling between divorcing parents for a year. Then, there's a hijacking, but why is April's "dad" on board? April flees to the cargo hold with another unaccompanied minor she's met before, and they fight to thwart the hijackers, faking a fire, making weapons from things they find in luggage. At last, locked in the cockpit with a wounded police officer, the boy, and his service dog, April tries to remember everything her parents said to do in a crisis above the clouds. But she knows it won't be enough.</i></span></div>

<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">Firstly, the plot of this book is so original! I haven't read anything even remotely like this before, and so this made it automatically more enjoyable. Almost all of the story took place on a plane or in an airport, so as someone who hasn't ever been on a plane, this was great! I never realised how much a setting can change the feel of a book, and this made it fast paced and exciting.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">April was a great character with a lot of personality. This book showed April, the unaccompanied minor, who would otherwise be overlooked, to be someone worth listening to. I liked the way that Gillespie showed the stereo-typically weaker people, like young (April) and old (Flo) to be strong and brave. I really like it when writers do things like that.</span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">Weirdly, I learnt a lot from this book too because I've never even been inside an airport, so that was so interesting to read! Although I liked the setting and characters, I didn't find that the plot captured my attention. While I enjoyed what I was reading, I didn't feel like I just <i>had </i>to carry on reading. After a while I got a bit side tracked with my reading. I think that this might be because this isn't something I'm used to reading, and maybe not my cup of tea. </span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think that a lot of people, however, would enjoy this book a lot. There are some great characters and an unusual plot, which is great.</div>

Sorry for the last post, I lost my notebook with my list of books that I've read in and all my planning! I've found it now though, finally.<br />
<br />
This month has definitely been a lot better than February! Still not my best month, but an improvement. Recently, I've been having a lot of school work, but I've been trying to post frequently and this has worked better this month than last.<br />
<br />
Reading wise, March has been quite good, but there's still room for improvement! I've read 7 books this month, which are:<br />
<img height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNS6IG2dGWJt_SU6NDYxH_-oqVEMopKaxpu7XO-6hfuQcBzDs8rPwLH7MnAN_A61dqCwT0N9B9n6X1ySK5bSYYrEBZFksuXv3kgvfp071DA0Uep6k8RHRQSzPytvpBABO4eGf0XM4k40E/s200/Plague-4-Michael-Grant-bookcouture.jpg" width="128" /><img height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOqEBJ9P5zhu0gICk2LADCbz2B_Wjhfq-_6M_zg4WjqF3H-ilkztQQdaxiUe52QJaYmEFloWnyU_B9htTQkrsIW8NeC0IS2xUo5Xo4R1jABr2ae_-HA6185LQv0Es1S6CFY7r-G-Ufudcj/s200/17208924.jpg" width="130" /><img height="200" src="http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1349013610l/6442769.jpg" width="133" /><img height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLazUWbQ1H6iZ7WG9dYLwbZ4CqS13epIX4Vtl_W1u3_svV-KcNvyatYMvSWnKCdr5PD39sjEWyBeuHD-9G_1OGkh5nVVcgfDIQ9HR93DGT7RqTUBXwkR8QrDMaEF1UXGbwUagt5J78jaQb/s200/Poor+Little+Dead+Girls+Lizzie+Friend.jpg" width="130" /><img height="200" src="http://www2.alibris-static.com/isbn/9780435125110.gif" width="132" /><br />

Out of these books, I reviewed <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/will-grayson-will-grayson-byjohn-green.html" target="_blank">Will Grayson, Will Grayson</a>, <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/poor-little-dead-girls-by-lizzie-friend.html" target="_blank">Poor Little Dead Girls</a>, and <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/the-maze-runner-by-james-dashner-review.html" target="_blank">The Maze Runner</a>.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I found a meme this month which I really love and it's called Quote Me Thursday. I did two posts of this meme, and enjoyed them a lot. Here's the <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/quote-me-thursday.html" target="_blank">first one</a>, and here's the <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/quote-me-thursday-2.html" target="_blank">second</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This month, I wrote about <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/how-to-read.html" target="_blank">How To Read</a>- where I gave tips on how to encourage friends or family to start reading, and I also did a post called <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/books-into-films.html" target="_blank">Books into Films</a>, which talks about... you guessed it... books being made into films!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I haven't been tweeting a lot lately, but will be for sure in April, and hopefully will be doing a lot of reading a blog posts!</div>

This week, the quote I chose was from The Great Gatsby by Scott F. Fitzgerald, and it goes like this:<br />
<br />
<img src="http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lzi98o3LkC1rp32b4o1_1280.png" /><br />
<br />
There are so many reasons why I love this quote- one being that it is just written so beautifully and if I had to describe Summer in one sentence, it would be this quote. It sums up everything that is great about Summer time and why we look forward to it. I feel like I can relate to this a lot because I'm so excited for the summer, and doing things that you can't do otherwise, like going out all day and meeting new people and having a really great time. I think that there's a lot of truth in this quote too, because life pretty much does start again with Summer- there's a new sense of optimism that is given to us when the sun comes out and opportunities that we don't usually get. Personally, I am so happy when the weather is nice, and there's so much more to do and with this comes a lot of happiness, which I think Fitzgerald shows so well in this quote.<br />
<br />
The Great Gatsby is a great book with so many brilliant lines in its limited number of pages. I want to re-read it soon and watch the film too!<br />
<br />
P.S. I was going to write my Monthly Roundup, but lost my notebook with my lists of books in- it should be up tomorrow though!<br />

This book was a highly anticipated read for me because I've heard so much about it, and it's even being made into a film. This shows just how popular it is, so when I saw this on the Book Trade part of <a href="http://bookblogging.net/trades/page/2/#blogdir_number" target="_blank">bookblogging.net</a>, I had to get it. </div>
<br />

<i style="background-color: transparent;">Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It's the only way out--and no one's ever made it through alive.</i></div>

<a href="https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1375596592l/6186357.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img alt="6186357" border="0" height="400" src="https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1375596592l/6186357.jpg" width="264" /></a></div>
<i><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></i>
At the start of the story, I couldn't put it down. I was literally reading on and on until I was forced to stop. The pace was really fast and in the first 40 pages so much happened. Thomas is such a great character. He's really brave and daring and faces the problems that he encounters really well. I also loved Newt as a character because he was very honest, which could sometimes be funny, and was always good to read.<br />
<br />
Towards the middle of the book, I felt like the story didn't really progress for a little while. This made my reading slower, but it soon picked up after more twists and turns in the story. All the way through the book you're constantly wondering what the maze is and why it's there, and this makes the book so, so interesting. So, as the characters find out clues, or something changes, it gets even more intriguing. I think that because we know as little as the characters do about the maze, it makes us want to read on.<br />
<br />
Overall, the way the book was written was great to read, and the plot itself is so different to anything I've read before. I loved how all of the boys in the Glade worked so hard and were so determined, and how they carried on always. I haven't read anything like it before, and this meant that I enjoyed it even more.<br />
<br />
The end of the book is properly great! The twist at the end is brilliant, and I didn't even know there were two other books, so I need to get them reallyyyyyy soon! If anyone has read them them let me know if they're as good as the first book!<br />

<br />
Today I realised how many people don't read, and thought about what maybe puts them off and all those type of things. And then I thought that there literally is a book for everyone in the world. If you like reading about fruit eating spiders or boys from the eighties, there's probably a book about it, or maybe you want to read a book which will make you cry, and that's why planet Earth has John Green.<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is some tips on how I convinced my friend to start reading, and now she loves it!<br />
<br />
1. Don't just moan at them for the fact that they don't read because it will probably just put them off. I think that if you <span style="color: red;">ask someone what sort of things they like </span>then that's a good place to start.<br />
<br />
2. If you<span style="color: red;"> find a book yourself</span> that you think they might like then it takes that job off of your friend. If they've got the book there then they're more likely to pick it up than if they have to find one for themselves. It's also harder if you don't read very often because you might not know what's good or not.<br />
<br />
3. You could <span style="color: red;">offer to buddy read</span> the book to give them some motivation to start the book. If this isn't what you or your friend would enjoy then I think you need to make sure they give the book a chance before putting it down. Maybe say 'try and read 25 pages at once before putting it down.' This will mean they won't give up too soon, hopefully.<br />
<br />
4.<span style="color: red;"> Give them time!</span> Some people, even those who LOVE reading take a while to finish a book. Everyone reads at different paces, and especially if you're not used to reading book after book, it might just take a little longer.<br />
<br />
5. If they don't like the book or give up then<span style="color: red;"> it's fine</span>. Reading just isn't for some people which is totally cool. Maybe try another book but if not then leave it for a while. There are always audio-books if that helps some people enjoy it more, but not everyone will want to do this either. :)<br />
<br />
I hope this is helpful!<br />

This week, I'm taking part in the weekly meme, hosted by <a href="http://www.dailymayo.com/" target="_blank">Daily Mayo</a>. This meme is all about sharing a favourite quote, passage from a book or any other quote related post.<span style="background-color: #f1efe9; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;"> </span><br />
<span style="background-color: #f1efe9; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">I am such a lover of quotes! I think it's because some quotes have so much meaning in a few words and can be related to so easily. I don't even know how many I have written down in random notebooks or saved onto my ipod, so there were a lot to choose from. </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">This week, I have chosen a quote from The Perks of Being a Wallflower (which is amazing and my review can be read <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/the-perks-of-being-wallflower-by.html" target="_blank">here</a>.) </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 24px;">The quote:</span></span></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img src="http://onlinemoviequotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Perks-of-being-a-wallflower.png" /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I chose this quote because it makes me feel really, really happy. It makes me realise that this is the generation that we're growing up in, whether we like it or not and that these are the years we'll tell our kids about and remember as 'our time'. It reminds me to just relax and enjoy it! Because it's happening! It makes me want to get a camera and take pictures of everything that is happening at this exact moment<i> just because it is happening. </i>Perks in general makes me appreciate things, but this quote makes me appreciate the time we live in and the things I get to do. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i style="background-color: white;"><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I don't know if it's just me who feels like this when they read the quote, but I know that The Perks of being a Wallflower is full of memorable lines. I'm going to take part in this meme regularly and there will probably be a few more from Perks! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Vollkorn, Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you've done a Quote me Thursday then link it in the comments because I've only read a couple before! Also, tell me if there's any Perks quotes that you love!</span></div>

<em>Perfect people aren't just born. They're made.<br /><br />The first time she is blindfolded and kidnapped, star-athlete and posh boarding school newbie Sadie is terrified. She wakes up in a dark room surrounded by hushed whispers, hooded strangers, and a mysterious voice whispering not-so-sweet nothings in her ear. <br /><br />But once the robes come off, she realizes it’s just an elaborate prank designed to induct her into the group that’s been pulling the strings at Keating Hall for generations. The circle has it all--incredible connections; fabulous parties; and, of course, an in with the brother society’s gorgeous pledges. <br /><br />The instant popularity is enough to make Sadie forget about the unexplained marks on her body, the creepy ceremonial rituals, and the incident that befell one of her teammates the year before. So the next time Sadie is kidnapped, she isn’t scared, but she should be. The worst of Keating Hall is yet to come.</em></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<em></em> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I first started this book, I had no idea what was going to happen and this made it more exciting to read. However, I found it hard to get into the book to start with. I felt like the characters weren't given any back story or any traits for me to imagine them with or to base them on. Sadie (the main character,) I thought, we never really got to know well enough. This just made it a bit more difficult to relate to people in the book or sympathise with them. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
There was quite a slow start with not a lot of action or deelopment of characters, but once the story began to unfold, I really started to enjoy the book. I liked the mystery that came with the story and the way that we were left to put together clues ourselves. Also, the dialogue between usually Sadie and a friend was always really convincing as teenagers. They used language that was believable and this made reading a lot more enjoyable. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My favourite parts of the story were near the end where the action started to take place and the plot really began to get great. I thought that the plot was really original and I haven't read anything like this before. The idea of a posh boarding-school was fun to read about and imagine what it must be like to go to a boarding school. Personally though, I thought the ending was a little short, and I would've liked for there to be a little more detail in the end. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Overally, I think that this book would be enjoyed by people who like YA mystery stories, because there are a lot of clues and problems to solve in this story. I would give this 3/5 because while the story was great, the characters weren't hugely described. </div>

<br />
This year, The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent and Mockingjay Part 1 come out in the cinema. These are 3 of my top favourite books, and to know that they are popular enough and so well loved to be even <i>thought</i> of being made into a movie is amazing. It means you can live the book again but this time by physically watching the characters and their lives and the story that is told.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/41/Divergent_film_poster.png" width="255" /><img height="400" src="http://static2.hypable.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/hunger-games-mockingjay-movie-poster.jpg" width="270" /></div>
Probably the biggest success story of putting books to film is Harry Potter. I remember hearing somewhere that a large percentage of children didn't even know Harry Potter was actually a book. Has the film taken over the book? I don't know. But I do know that it gave a lot of people the chance to experience the story who might not have done otherwise. It probably actually also encouraged a lot of people to read the books. One thing is for sure; by making Harry Potter into a film, it got HUGE. I don't think there is anyone in the UK who hasn't heard of the films or books, if not seen them, and I bet it would be the same throughout other countries. It made a lot of people happy, taking them into a new world.<br />
<br />
Sometimes, people think books being put on screen is a bad thing. That it ruins or changes the story too much. I worry that this will happen with my favourite books but so far I don't feel like it has. I loved the way Harry Potter and The Hunger Games were adapted and I just really hope that I feel the same with all of the films this year. The Fault in Our Stars trailer was amazing, and I thought the Divergent one was too, so I have high expectations!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

Personally, I prefer to read the book before the film, just because it usually contains more detail and I feel like you get to know the characters more.<br />
What do you prefer? And what films did you enjoy or what films disappointed you?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06693863749029991405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116879420050713703.post-68498286734956269932014-03-06T09:35:00.000-08:002014-03-06T09:35:45.671-08:00Will Grayson, Will Grayson byJohn Green and David Levithan- Review<br />
<img src="http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/213/d/e/will_grayson__will_grayson_by_d4ncingd4wn-d6g4obd.jpg" height="363" width="640" /><br />
<br />
<br />
I haven't read a book in one day for a long time, because the truth is, I haven't had time, or just haven't found the right book. But, along comes Will Grayson and I just stop everything (probably not the right thing to do when I have exams, but wow) and finish the book in a few sittings.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><i>One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two teens—both named Will Grayson—are about to cross paths. As their worlds collide and intertwine, the Will Graysons find their lives going in new and unexpected directions, building toward romantic turns-of-heart and the epic production of history’s most fabulous high school musical.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><i>-From <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6567017-will-grayson-will-grayson" target="_blank">Goodreads</a></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">Of course, any book by John Green AND David Levithan already has high expectations from me, and this book exceeded them. I don't even know quite what it was that I loved about it and which made me want to finish it so quickly. But I'll try to explain anyway...</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">I think that firstly, the characters are brilliant. I loved both Will Graysons for different reasons, and loved the sweetness of straight Will Grayson and the morbid humour of gay Will Grayson. Both were entertaining and I didn't prefer one from the other which is good otherwise the book may have been less enjoyable. Tiny is a main character, and he is hilarious. At first, I didn't like him very much, but towards the end he started to be shown as kind and that made me like him a lot more. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">Secondly, I really, really liked the writing. Like really, really, really. It's so easy to follow and I honestly don't understand how both Green and Levithan write like such convincing teenagers. And their teenagers are always the sort of people I would love to meet and be friends with. There are so many beautiful lines and hilarious quotes and it's all written in a way that really makes me believe that these characters are real and they breath and eat and talk and swear and smile for real, in the real world.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOqEBJ9P5zhu0gICk2LADCbz2B_Wjhfq-_6M_zg4WjqF3H-ilkztQQdaxiUe52QJaYmEFloWnyU_B9htTQkrsIW8NeC0IS2xUo5Xo4R1jABr2ae_-HA6185LQv0Es1S6CFY7r-G-Ufudcj/s1600/17208924.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOqEBJ9P5zhu0gICk2LADCbz2B_Wjhfq-_6M_zg4WjqF3H-ilkztQQdaxiUe52QJaYmEFloWnyU_B9htTQkrsIW8NeC0IS2xUo5Xo4R1jABr2ae_-HA6185LQv0Es1S6CFY7r-G-Ufudcj/s320/17208924.jpg" height="320" width="208" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The book is written with one chapter being from one Will Grayson's point of view and one chapter from the other Will Grayson's point of view. I didn't find this confusing like I thought I would because 1. both Wills are very different and 2. one Will writes without capital letters. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The actually story itself is lovely and features a lot to do with friendship and relationships and I didn't find it to ever be boring, just full of sentences that made me want to read the next one. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I recommend this book hugely to any fans of either of these writers, or YA contemporary lovers. </div>

I haven't had a lot of spare time because of revision for exams and just being generally busy, so I'm really upset that I couldn't post more and read and comment on other people's blogs. Hopefully next month will be better!<br />
<br />
<img height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi6n6SYSuO2V7UGueL5ZDywsJrXozxJR2MSrPFn0w-FXjr7LjdbPnw9DQnWr3twIUm5gDPW9D3_VxJUYmiRQvMtt5ttgOwBulBvdDrpN5LPQtmPxdIZ0Q7gaTREA4wtJiTauaf4Vv9LrQ5/s200/cvr9781847394071_9781847394071_hr.jpg" width="130" />The first post I wrote was a review of The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, a book which I loved. You can read that review <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/the-perks-of-being-wallflower-by.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<img height="200" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51BQs7FQWAS._SL1170_.jpg" width="130" />I also reviewed Gone by Michael Grant, which can be read <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/gone-by-michael-grant-review.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
I wrote my second <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/flashback-friday-2.html" target="_blank">Flashback Friday</a> post too, this time featuring A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett and explained why I am so<a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/busy-busy-busy-busy.html" target="_blank"> Busy</a> this month. <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/fangirling-is-it-good-thing.html" target="_blank">Is Fangirling a Good Thing?</a> This was written when I realised I am a fangirl.<br />
<br />
Reading this month wasn't so great either. I read less than last month and am behind on my target of 100 books this year, but I'm hoping to catch up. I read a total of 5 books this month, and these are:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><a href="http://jennyinneverland.wordpress.com/2014/02/28/fangirl-rainbow-rowell-by-kate-teenblurb/" target="_blank">Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell</a> (This was my monthly guest review for jennyinneverland.wordpress.com)</li>
<li>Gone by Michael Grant</li>
<li>Hunger by Michael Grant</li>
<li>The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald</li>
<li>Lies by Michael Grant</li>
</ul>
<div>
Let's just hope next month is better!</div>

<img src="http://ih2.redbubble.net/image.12151340.7806/fig,white,mens,ffffff.jpg" /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Way more often than I probably should, I find myself typing in caps, freaking out about some book or band. It usually contains lots of OMGGGGGG or SFDKJELKJJSKKSKSKSKSKAAAAAAAHHHH or THE FEELS or DYING and I don't even know why. It's like I get so caught up in the world of books or so excited by music that when something happens even remotely to do with one of my favourite things, I just fangirl.</div>
<div>
But is fangirling a good thing or a bad thing? That's what I can't work out. Is it good to care about something a lot and to have something that makes you happy or is it bad that something can matter so much? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I will definitely be fangirling a lot lot lot lot when TFIOS comes out in the cinema and when the same happens to Divergent. It is likely that I will be way too happy when something good happens to a character in a book or when I hear my favourite song played on an advert. That will, in turn, earn some weird looks from other people. Sometimes I'm with someone who is as excited as me and that's great, but when I'm not I probably look a little bit strange. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I know that some people think that fans are obsessive and it can be unhealthy, and others completely disagree. Now is the time to defend your fangirling or to rant about why you oppose it! So, what do you think? Fangirling: Is it good or bad? Comment or tweet me your opinions because I'd be really interested to hear what you have to say!</div>

You can read it <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/flashback-friday.html" target="_blank">here</a>- it featured Deenie by Judy Blume, one of my favourite books ever!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This week, the book is... A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. This is one of very few classics that I've read but I enjoyed it so much. My mum wanted me to read it and I kept putting it off, thinking that I wouldn't enjoy it and that it would be hard to understand, but I read it when I was about 11, so it can't be too difficult to understand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: italic; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">Sara Crewe, an exceptionally intelligent and imaginative student at Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies, is devastated when her adored, indulgent father dies. Now penniless and banished to a room in the attic, Sara is demeaned, abused, and forced to work as a servant. How this resourceful girl's fortunes change again is at the center of </span><strong style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: italic; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">A Little Princess</strong><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><i>, one of the best-loved stories in all of children's literature.- </i><a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3008.A_Little_Princess?from_search=true" target="_blank">From Goodreads</a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I remember that when I read this, I really loved Sara as a character because she was just so lovely. Lovely as in kind and generous despite always having a lot herself, and being compassionate to those who don't. I also loved the world that she lived in. The book is set in the past, so that was really interesting and different for me, as I don't read a lot of books from different eras. At first I thought that this would annoy me but I loved reading about a time that I have no memories of.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another thing I really loved was the descriptions in the story, especially of the Seminary and of the surrounding area. I had a real picture in my mind of exactly how it would look where Sara was and that helped a lot with enjoying the book. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The plot will make you happy at times, and sad at times, but the story is just beautiful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In terms of the book being a classic, I think that that would put some people off from reading it because of the language being different and the general style of writing, but honestly the story is heart-warming and definitely worth the read. It may take longer than the average book to finish but it's definitely worth it.</div>

<a href="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51BQs7FQWAS._SL1170_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51BQs7FQWAS._SL1170_.jpg" width="260" /></a></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
I bought this a couple of years ago and never got past the second book in the series and I can't even remember why. I must have been crazy because second time round and I couldn't put it down, reading on the train on the way to and from work experience and reading loads before bed every night. It's taken me out of my Contemporary obsession that I've had lately and reminded me how great YA dystopia(?) can be.<div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.4; margin-bottom: 18px; margin-top: 18px; padding: 0px;">
<strong><i>In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE.</i></strong></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.4; margin-bottom: 18px; margin-top: 18px; padding: 0px;">
<i>Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened.</i></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.4; margin-bottom: 18px; margin-top: 18px; padding: 0px;">
<i>Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents-unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers-that grow stronger by the day.</i></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.4; margin-bottom: 18px; margin-top: 18px; padding: 0px;">
<i>It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else... -From <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2536134.Gone?from_search=true" target="_blank">Goodreads</a></i></div>
</div>
<div>
<div>
I think that the main reason that it is so gripping is because the story is so, so unlike anything I've read of before. Because I don't think anything like this has been written before, I have no idea what is going to happen after the second book (obviously I know up until then because I've read those books before). I just don't see how the characters are going to survive, or how things will ever work out. This is making me read on, so eager to find out how the story is going to continue and change. I even woke up this morning worrying about some of the problems they have in the FAYZ, realising later that I'm not actually there with them.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In terms of the way it's written, Gone isn't incredible. The story is told really well, but- and maybe this because of the genre- there isn't many lines that I thought 'wow, this is something I want on a t-shirt or whatever'. There aren't any beautiful quotes, but for me, that didn't really make me enjoy it less because the suspense made up for it. Everything was explained in quite an obvious way, but this meant that the book didn't get confusing which is always good. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sam is my favourite character in the story. He is the main character, I guess, but I just really like his personality and his morals. All of the characters have interesting traits and sides to them which I enjoyed seeing and I also liked Lana a lot for her braveness and strength. A lot of the characters are brave and strong and that makes me really admire them. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think this book would be perfect for people who enjoy action/sci-fi/dystopia. I don't really know what genre you would class this book as, but I think a lot of people would enjoy it. If you want to be taken into a scary new world and meet some great characters, then this book would be perfect for you. </div>

I'm on work experience, which I'm enjoying a lot! I'm with my uncle who is an architect and it's so different and fun and interesting. Because of work experience though, I don't think I'll be able to post very often this week. We have to get the train to London so I'm up at 6, and not home until 6.30, so I won't really have the time, plus I'm super tired.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And, we have a biology exam after half term so I have to revise for that. And I have to practice my final piece for art. This means I'm not having as much time to read, so I can't review books, and it's just aaaaaahwhrfjrfjjfkfkf. Not to try to make excuses, because I know that almost every other blogger is really busy but still manages to post, but I don't really see how I can at the moment. I love writing reviews and general posts, so as soon as I have the time, I will be straight back on here. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, hopefully my next post will be more exciting and will actually be enjoyed by someone if they read it, and hopefully that post won't be too far away. </div>

This week, I am so, so busy, as the title may have indicated already. :PAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06693863749029991405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116879420050713703.post-20405508202720753832014-02-07T09:37:00.002-08:002014-02-07T09:37:54.812-08:00To Be Read AGAIN!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I would be surprised if somebody told me they'd never re-read a book before. Like completely shocked. Because, there are some books that are just so amazing, with characters that you fall in love with or a plot that is so gripping that reading it again won't ever be boring. There are some books that I've got to know so well that they are just comfortable to read and this makes them easy to enjoy. And sometimes, I have to re-read a book because there was so much action that I missed parts! Lately, I've read a lot of good- really good- books that I will definitely be reading again. <li>The Catcher in The Rye- J.D Salinger</li>
<li>Divergent- Veronica Roth</li>
<li>Room- Emma Donoghue</li>
<li>Eleanor and Park- Rainbow Rowell</li>
<li>A Little Princess- Frances Hodgson Burnett</li>
</ul>

The Hunger Games- Suzanne Collins * <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/okay-so-this-first-review-may-be-quite_21.html" target="_blank">The Fault in Our Stars- John Green</a> * <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/flashback-friday.html" target="_blank">Deenie- Judy Blume</a> </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think that I like to re-read The Hunger Games because the story was just so original. The first time I read it I enjoyed it more than I ever thought, and so much happens in the book that I just think it will never get tiring. The Fault in our Stars is just beautiful. The plot and characters are put together in a way that is just incredible and I feel like even if I read this book constantly for the rest of the year, I won't get enough of it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And Deenie- I can re-read this because it is such an easy to enjoy book. The story is easy to follow, though it is never dull and being contemporary I don't have to think too much to read it, I can just focus on enjoying </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
it which is refreshing when some books can be quite confusing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

What books do you re-read? Or what's your TBRA??</div>

I thought I was never going to read the book and was given the DVD- a week later I was lent the book. That'll teach me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
Anyway, I didn't think it made me enjoy the book any less, I just knew what was going to happen, which was a bit annoying as it's always nice not to know what's happening next, but that's nothing to do with the book. As I usually find, the book was better than the film, and this was no exception to that rule.</div>

But he can't stay on the sideline forever. Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.</i></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white;">
<div style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: italic; line-height: 19.31999969482422px; text-align: center;">
<i style="background-color: transparent;"><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">As I sort of already knew what the book was about from the film, the main thing that stood out to me was the writing style. Stephen Chbosky has written this book in a style that suits Charlie (the main character whose eyes the book is written through) so much! I can't really describe it, but it's very much individual and there are a lot of short sentences. For example: ''I do not like high school. The Cafeteria is called the 'Nutrition Center' which is strange." I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but for me, it suits Charlie as I picture him perfectly. </span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">Talking of Charlie, he is a brilliant character. Not used to having friends or being anything other than a wallflower, it's really interesting to see him react to different situations. He's a really easy character to love because he's sort of innocent and very kind but has a lot of problems too. It's surprising how much is left out of the film, because in the book you realise just how broken Charlie really is.</span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y274/Stapps/Blog%20Stuff/tumblr_mb76t17dPf1qgesf6o1_500.jpg" /><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br />Being broken is sort of a theme in this book. Almost every character has some sort of difficulty in their past or present, which some might see as too much, but if you really think about it, everyone does has problems in real life, however big or small. The way that these characters all have a back story was, I thought, really great. It made the book very true to life. Some of the issues that are talked about can be sensitive but I thought these were dealt with in any way that a teenager would want them to be. I personally think that a lot of teenagers are exposed to issues such as drugs and depression, so this was not unrealistic and wasn't dramatized very much, which is how most people deal with things.</span></span></span></div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></span></span>
<span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;">I would recommend this book to people who enjoy coming of age stories. On the front cover of the copy I read, the book was likened to The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, and I can definitely see the resemblance. If you enjoyed J.D Salinger's amazing story, then you will, I think, enjoy this. YA Contemporary at it's most honest.</span></span></span></div>

<span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.31999969482422px;"><br /></span></span></span></div>

Plus, it seems fun :)<br />
<img height="424" src="http://cocomsp.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/4065980-the-month-of-january-done-in-vintage-letterpress-type.jpg" width="640" /><br />
So, this month has been quite busy in terms of reading as I've read books that I've wanted to for a long, long time. Elenor and Park- of course- was brilliant and I finished <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/divergent-by-veronica-roth-review.html" target="_blank">Divergent by Veronica Roth</a> at the very start of the month, a book which I'd been desperate to read. Then, I finished the trilogy, which you can read <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/whole-divergent-trilogy-by-veronica.html" target="_blank">here</a>. All I can say is these books are amazing, but *that ending* was just... hmmmm...<br />
<br />
Aaaanyway, I've read 7 books this month, which is probably not on track for my reading target of 100 books this year, but I'm going to carry on either way. I never want to feel like I<i> have</i> to read and to take the fun out of it. These books were:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/divergent-by-veronica-roth-review.html" target="_blank">Insurgent by Veronica Roth</a></li>
<li>A Witch Alone by Ruth Warburton</li>
<li><a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/divergent-by-veronica-roth-review.html" target="_blank">Allegiant by Veronica Roth</a></li>
<li><a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/the-mortal-instruments-city-of-bones-by.html" target="_blank">City of Bones by Cassandra Clare</a></li>
<li><a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/eleanor-park-by-rainbow-rowell-review.html" target="_blank">Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell</a></li>
<li>The Perks of being a Wallflower</li>
<li>Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume</li>
</ul>
<div>
I also got nominated for a Leibster award, first by Jenny from jennyinneverland.wordpress.com and another from Sabrina from http://ihavetoreadthat.blogspot.co.uk/ both of which I was so surprised and pleased about, so thank you! You can read them <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/leibster-award.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/leibster-award-2.html" target="_blank">here</a>!</div>

<br />
<br />
I am so happy to have been nominated for the Leibster Award for the second time! Thank you so much to <span style="color: red;">Sabrina from http://ihavetoreadthat.blogspot.co.uk/</span> (@IHaveToRead_) who nominated me, and who also has a pretty awesome blog with a beautiful layout.<br />
You can find out what the Leibster Award is in my first post about it <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/leibster-award.html" target="_blank">here</a>, and who I nominated myself. (I won't nominate again, since I have already done it, I'll just answer the questions)<br />
<br />
So, here are the questions, wooooo!<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;"><u><b>1. What is the book that you re-read every year?</b></u></span><br />
<div>
Hmm, this one is probably The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's the only book that I've re-read for years, but I have a feeling that <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/okay-so-this-first-review-may-be-quite_21.html" target="_blank">The Fault in Our Stars</a> by John Green will be re-read every year too! Both books are incredible!<br />
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: red;">2. Hardbacks or paperbacks of ebooks?</span></u></b></div>
<div>
Well I don't have a kindle or anything, so definitely not ebooks, so I'm going to say paperbacks. I love hardbacks but they're just more difficult- heavier, more expensive, not as bendy haha. With paperbacks, I feel like I can take them anywhere and not be so paranoid about damaging it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: red;">3. What are your reading goals for 2014?</span></u></b></div>
<div>
My main goal was to read 100 books this year. So far, I've read 7, which I don't think is on track, but I'm going to carry on either way. I did a post about my<a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2013_12_01_archive.html" target="_blank"> Ambitions for 2014</a>, so I hope I can achieve all of these things. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: red;">4. What book are you recommending everyone reads at the moment?</span></u></b></div>
<div>
I finished reading <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/eleanor-park-by-rainbow-rowell-review.html" target="_blank">Eleanor and Park</a> by Rainbow Rowell a couple of days ago and enjoyed it so much! At the minute, I'm raving about this book, and then also <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/divergent-by-veronica-roth-review.html" target="_blank">Divergent</a> by Veronica Roth which I loved more than I thought I would.</div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: red;"><br /></span></u></b></div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: red;">5. Favourite snack to nibble on whilst reading?</span></u></b></div>
<div>
Oh my god, anything chocolate-y or cake-ish! I have a really sweet tooth, mainly for chocolate or cakes or chocolate cake but I could eat so much before I stop- I think I'm addicted! Mmmm, now I'm hungry.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: red;">6. Who is your fictional character crush?</span></u></b></div>
<div>
Four. Four, Four, Four, Four, Four! Without a doubt, it's Four from the Divergent trilogy. I don't even know why, but I love him so much! Oh my goshhhhhhh</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: red;">7. If you could hang out with 5 fictional characters, who would they be? (Dead or alive from the fictional world)</span></u></b></div>
<div>
This is a really hard one because there are so many characters I love! But, if I reallllyyyy had to choose, it would be Four from Divergent, Eleanor from Eleanor and Park, Jack from <a href="http://teenblurb.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/room-by-emma-donoghue-review.html" target="_blank">Room</a> by Emma Donoghue, Holden from The Catcher in The Rye by J.D Salinger and Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars. That was so difficult!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="color: red;"><u><b>8. What snack do you snack on whilst reading? </b></u></span></div>
<div>
Haha, I think this would be the same answer as for question 5! :P</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="color: red;"><u><b>9. What's your guilty pleasure?</b></u></span></div>
<div>
Hmmm, definitely chocolate and cake- if someone offers me anything resembling either, I can't refuse!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
10. What's a bad habit that you have?</div>
<div>
Probably getting easily annoyed by things, like when people are rude or whatever, and it usually ruins my day.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="color: red;"><b><u>11. Craziest thing you've done?</u></b></span></div>
<div>
Well this is upsetting, as I can't think of anything really. :(((( I do some weird and funny things with my friends but nothing *crazyyy*! Hopefully I can change that... <span style="color: red;">comment something crazy I should do... (I might regret this haha) </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Like I said, I've already nominated people the first time, but thank you Sabrina for nominating me!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
